A one-day orientation workshop on Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) was organised on February 17th, 2020 by the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, J&K. As a Regional Coordinating Institute (RCI), NIT Srinagar organised this workshop to spread awareness of UBA scheme in the region. Under the mentorship of Prof. M. F. Wani (Regional Coordinator, UBA), the idea behind organising this workshop was to familiarize Participating Institutes (PIs) with UBA scheme and encourage them to work actively towards rural development of villages of the region. Participants from 50+ institutes from the different parts of the valley attended the workshop.
Hon’ble chief guest Shri. Khurshid Ahmad Khan, ADC graced the occasion with his presence. The hon’ble chief guest had interactive session over Skype with Prof. Virendra K. Vijay (National Coordinator, UBA) in the presence of audience. Together they have discussed the UBA scheme and its proper implementation in the region. Delegates from IIT Delhi (National Coordinating Institute, UBA), Prof. Ajay Saini and Ms. Bharti Jasrotia, delivered presentation and answered queries of the audience. Interactive sessions were held with experts from IIT Delhi and Coordinator RCI. In these interactive sessions experts answered the queries of participants and also shared their experience about UBA activities. The workshop proved to be highly beneficial for the participants. A registration session was held in the afternoon where participants were encouraged to register online on UBA portal. This workshop was very helpful for the participants owing to limited internet access in the valley. At the end, all the participants were thanked with participation certificates.
