Team UBA, IIT Roorkee identified that the cattle owned by farmers lack nutrients in their regular fodder which is further causing low yield of milk produced by them. Team , thus, came up with a solution - Azolla! Requiring minimal space to thrive, it boasts an impressive nitrogen content.
Team approached farmers with cattles for this initiative. With the help of Fast Agri Farmerson FPO and KVK Haridwar, the first pit under this initiative was installed in village Puranpur. This pit would further serve as a source of seeds in installation of new pits.
UBA, IIT Roorkee envisions empowering small-scale and marginalized farmers through such innovative initiatives. The resultant increase in milk production promises not only healthier cattle but also improved financial stability for our dedicated farmers.
