The Grama Sabha meeting for the month of October was held on October 2nd, 2023, at A.K. Mottur, Kethandapatti, Periakaram, Kasinayakanpatti, Mookkanur, Mittur, Adiyur, Karupanur, Natham, Kaveripattu, Periyakannalapatti, Peria Mottur, Kathari, Japribath, Natcampatti, Sankarapuram, Kuthandakuppam, Chennithur, Kurichilapattu, Pachal Panchayat with the purpose of discussing important issues related to the development and welfare of our village. Our SHG members, staff, and students participated 19 panchayats Grama Saba Meeting. The meeting was presided over by panchayat president and attended by numerous villagers and local officials.
Highlights of the Grama Saba
The meeting began with a warm welcome from each panchayat president, who introduced the agenda and invited attendees to share their concerns and suggestions. The minutes of the last Grama Sabha meeting held on 15.08.2023 were reviewed and approved by the attendees.
The local Panchayat officials provided updates on ongoing development projects, including road construction, sanitation initiatives, and water supply improvements. They highlighted the successful completion of several projects and the allocation of funds for upcoming ones. The local health department reported on the progress of healthcare services in the village, emphasizing the importance of vaccination drives and regular health check-ups.
Villagers expressed concerns about the state of education in the village, including the need for better infrastructure, more qualified teachers, and access to digital learning resources. It was decided to form a committee to liaise with educational authorities and explore opportunities for improving the village's educational facilities.
The agriculture committee shared information on crop yields and challenges faced by farmers, including pest infestations and water scarcity. Attendees discussed the possibility of organizing agricultural training sessions for farmers to adopt modern and sustainable farming practices.
Attendees were informed about upcoming government schemes related to rural development and encouraged to take advantage of them. Suggestions from the attendees included the need for better street lighting, a community center for gatherings, and improved public transportation.
