Dedication of Solar Street Lights under Unnat Bharat Abiyan: (25. 2. 2021)

 

Dedication of solar lamp in Kattuvizhai and Pozhikarai was held on 25.2.2021, it was headed by Tmt . I.S. Mercy Ramya, I.A.S, Additional Collector (Dev.) & Project Director, Rural Development Agency, Kanyakumari (Dist) and Dr. K. Ravichandran , Professor/ Regional Coordinator, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Regional Coordinating Institute, Gandhigram Rural Institute (Deemed to be University), Gandhigram.

The program started at Kattuvizhai with an awareness talk on “saving natural resources” by Karishma of second year Zoology. Subsequently The principal and the vice principal of Holy Cross College and Dr. K. Ravichandran presented the solar lamp to the village people. Next Tmt . I.S. Mercy Ramya presented the solar lamp to the village people of Pozhikarai. She interacted with the students of Holy Cross College and inquired them about the data collection and explained them the various government schemes. A meeting was arranged at Pozhikarai, it was chaired by the Secretary Dr. Sr. Gerardin Jayam, the Principal Dr. Sr. Anne PerpetSophy and the Vice Principal Dr. Sr. Leema Rose of Holy Cross College also Tmt . I.S. Mercy Ramya, Dr. K. Ravichandran, the Parish Priest of Pozhikarai and the village head presided over the meeting. Dr. Panimaya Mercy, coordinator UBA of Holy Cross College welcomed the gathering. Tmt . I.S. Mercy Ramya gave a special talk and then prizes were given to the students of Pozhikarai who won the competitions conducted during the lock down. The Parish Priest of Pozhikarai Rev. Fr. Gnana Sekaran gave the felicitation address and the village head Tmt. Kebinsha delivered the vote of thanks. The other members of the UBA of Holy Cross College, the students of Holy Cross College and the village people were participated in the meeting.
