Orientation Program on Know Our River Survey Form

Online Orientation for Know Our Rivers Campaign was organized on March 15, 2023. Jalnayak Dr. Snehal Donde was the resource person. The program started with the welcome address by Dr. Asha Menon, Principal. She emphasized on the dire need to work on this project and propagate this issue at a larger level. The resource person Jalnayak Dr. Snehal Donde explained that the campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving and protecting rivers and their ecosystems. Further, she added that the campaign focuses on educating the public about the various threats facing our rivers, including pollution, habitat loss, and climate change.  The resource person explained the procedure of the door-step survey. While explaining the survey in detail, she said that one of the key components of the campaign is a survey that aims to gather information about people's knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to rivers and included questions about the respondents' level of familiarity with local rivers, their perceptions of river health, and their willingness to take action to protect rivers. The findings of the survey will be instrumental for the campaign to develop a series of educational resources and outreach efforts with the aims to provide people with accurate information about river conservation and empowering them to take action. These efforts will be workshops, webinars, and educational materials such as brochures and posters. Overall, the "Know Our Rivers" campaign is an important effort to raise awareness about the importance of preserving and protecting rivers and to engage the public in efforts to conserve these vital ecosystems. She evaluated how to approach people to procure required information and prepare plan of action.  Dr. Vinod Zalte coordinated the program.
