OUTREACH PROGRAM ON IMPARTING TECHNOLOGY Panchayat Union Middle School-Chettypuniyam


The department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (EIE), in association with UBA SRM-IST, jointly organized an Outreach Program on Imparting Technology to School Students of adopted Chettipunyam Village at Panchayat Union Middle School (PUMS), near Chengalpet on 10.11.23 (Friday), on the occasion of National Education Day (November 11th). This event, coordinated by Mrs.S.Sharanya, A.P, Dept. of EIE, SRM IST and Dr.P.A.Sridhar, Research A.P, Dept. of EIE, SRM IST falls in line with SDG 4 (Quality education) and SDG 7 (Affordable and clean energy). The chief guest of the event, Dr. J. Johnsi Priya, Assistant Professor of Education, Meston College of Education shared the importance of learning new techniques and the art of practicing in real time. Convenor of the event, Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director (Campus Life), Nodal Officer, UBA-SRM IST addressed the gathering and briefed about the activities of UBA cell, SRM IST. Mr.Joseph, Head Master (PUMS) had acknowledged the services rendered by faculty and students of SRM IST under UBA activity that works for uplifting rural education, during the inaugural session.

This outreach has imbibed curiosity in 7th & 8th grade students for developing projects with basic electronics and understanding the fundamentals of Arduino coding for different real-time applications. The students had a hands-on session with basic electronics and the following projects were displayed and explained:

1. Solar power Generation

2. Power Supply Failure Alarm

3. Wind power Generation

4. Rain detector

5. Manual power Generation

6. LPG gas detector

7. Jumping jack with arduino

8. Snake game with arduino

9. Fastest finger first with arduino

10. Building logic gates (hands-on session)

Students had rapid fire questions and were acknowledged with prizes at the end of the session.
